My goal this year has been to cut back spending. As a stay at home mom, I feel like I have to justify staying home by saving money we would have otherwise spent unnecessarily. So far this year I've cut our electricity bill in half with energy saving measures and switching to a different energy plan. Are electricity bills dropped from $350-500 a month to $198 (last month). Now when the husband gives me snarky comments about not bringing in enough money I say, "Hello, electricity bill."
I still have a lot to do to make the house energy efficient. I am learning all I can. I think it's imperative that we all reduce consumption and start living renewable lifestyles. It's good for the planet and the pocketbook! I don't want to get on an environmental soapbox so I'll move on to my second area of savings... Coupons!
I've been following a few blogs on couponing and amazed how these women are on the game. I mean they know where the stuff's on sale, who has a coupon, and even where to get a rebate. I am in awe. I have two kids at home and two stepkids that are with us part-time. My husband and I joke that his kids eat more when they're here every other weekend than my kids do all month. We really need to save in the grocery/food/eating department.
I haven't even looked at the other bills yet. I still want to shop around for the best rate for TV/Internet and see where we can save water. All in time... in the mean time, I'm going to learn all I can and share what I learn here.

Coupon Mania
I've been reading The Sharp Scissors Lady blog and am inspired by the grocery savings some women can accomplish with coupons and rebates. My goal for this weekend is to learn the the extreme coupon clipping game. I want a trunk full of groceries for $4.00 too!
